Pets For Adoption & Doggies In Rehab
Hi there!
Meet our doggies here, and hopefully find your new bestie.
Everyone is desexed, chipped, vaccinated, heartworm + intestinal worm + flea treated. And every dog leaves with a little starter pack of a lead, collar, tags, harness, current diet & goodies.
We've also done all the extras (like dentals and blood panels for example). And everyone eats premium diets in care. Adoption fees are reduced for senior dogs despite their higher vetwork costs and longer time in rehab.
SSR sometimes allows interstate adoption if the successful applicant is willing to travel for a meet & greet, also if the dog is OK for a long drive. With this compromise we have had doggies go to Qld, Vic, SA, WA and ACT.
Please note: Only very rarely do we have a dog who can be transported unaccompanied to their new home, you'll need to keep this in mind when applying.
We have a lifetime backup policy and your adopted dog may be returned to us at any stage. Sometimes life throws you a curveball and we're always here to help. You may also call your carer 24/7 for any emergencies or questions.

MARCH UPDATE 2024 Ready for Adoption
Valentine is tiny and fun-loving. He is smaller than a cat but still takes them on with the heart of a Great Dane. We're seeking a home with another small youngish friendly dog to play with and cuddle up with. He could literally play all day. At just an estimated 6 months, he's very silly and playful so if you haven't had a puppy for a while, be prepared for a little fellow who jumps on your lap and gives you nose nibbles! Please no cats or pocket pets. A small young dog for company is required. No pools, dams or large ponds. Children in the home or visiting must be well over 10yrs. |
Brand new arrival FEB 2024
Little Valentine is a tiny boy. Very playful and well adjusted, I can't work out why he was left matted and alone. His coat came off in one felted piece when he was clipped at the shelter to make him comfortable. He needs a couple of weeks before vetwork so he can have his second vaccination at the same time. Valentine also has a degree of albinism (his vision and hearing are fine), retained baby teeth and an undescended testicle. |

Xena | Poodle (Mini) | Female | 4yrs | Sydney |
Microchipped, vaccinated, desexed, pre-op blood panel, heartworm negative, dental with extractions, x-rays on file. Starter supplies provided. Lifetime support. $1500 - Rehoming Body Number: R251000076
Xena is ready for adoption! She is an absolute delight, clever and playful. And a stunning chocolate colour.
She is quite fond of other poodles. A docile friend who likes a bit of 'bitey face' game and sharing fruit pieces as treats would be perfect but not a must, she would love a devoted human or two just as much. She's one of those gals who also loves a beauty spa and feeling pretty.
She wants to know literally everything that you are doing. You'll never be alone with Xena around. Everything you do is assessed under the watchful and intelligent eye of a very clever girl.
Please no cats or pocket pets. A small dog for company or semi retired owners is ideal. No pools, dams or large ponds. Children in the home or visiting must be well over 10yrs.

HEALTH NOTES
We have our answer to Xena being a little bit sore some days. She has a congenital defect, elbow dysplasia.
If we decided to try to find a specialist surgeon, it could mean total elbow replacements on both sides.
This is not something she would cope with, being crated is extremely stressful for Xena, I can't imagine what months of recovery time would do to her.
So it's been decided in conjunction with vet advice, that she continue on her supplements (Rose Hip Vital and 4Cyte) which are working well now, and a monthly Beransa injection. She's had her first shot and it's clearly working already. Her gait is visibly smoother, she has no problem galloping down to the yard and back without pulling up lame. This will be an added monthly expense to keeping Xena comfortable ongoing. Something adopters will need to consider on top of grooming and supplement costs. All you'll need to do is watch her weight, and not over-exercise her e.g. she's perfect for a ladylike stroll and a sniff. Not km's of jogging.
As she ages, she might need anti inflammatories.

Prince | Toy Poodle | Male | 6 months | Sydney |
Microchipped, vaccinated, desexed, heartworm negative, Starter supplied provided. Lifetime support. $1500 - Rehoming Body Number: R251000076
Prince is ready for his forever home.
Prince has shown us he is extremely intelligent and a quick learner, we have no idea of his start in life but Prince just loves everything, that includes baths and grooming!! Toys and beds are just heaven. Prince and Valentine (our other young dog in care) can spend countless hours playing, playing bitey face and zoomies. Then Prince curls up in a bed with Valentine for a nap. It is safe to say Prince will need another young doggy companion in his forever home and one that loves the company and games of another dog who has a big love of everything life has to offer.
Prince has become a pro at houstraining and takes himself out the doggy door when needed.
Prince is still working on commands as he has lacked this in his past. Some formal dog training would have Prince in his element and would give him a great foundation to become to the best canine citizen he can be.
Prince has shown a little too much interest in cats, so a home with no cats or pocket pets is a must.
Prince needs a best doggy friend when left home alone. Prince's new owner would need to be home more often than not.
Prince came into care EXTREMELY neglected and his coat matted to the skin. As a poodle, Prince needs regular grooming including clipping every 6 weeks, we never want him to look like he did when he came into care. (Intake photo provided so you can see an ungroomed poodle).
Prince has no recall so dog parks are not encouraged. Formal training and time for Prince to mature before considering dog parks.
No pools, dams or large ponds. Children in the home or visiting must be 10yrs or over.
Prince is just a young pup and we will be looking for the right home for Prince that is going to make his future so bright he has to wear shades 😎

Tinker | Silky Terrier | Female | 10yrs | IN REHAB
MARCH UPDATE
Things just keep getting better for Tinker. Her ear canals opened wide enough for a stickybeak with the otoscope. Inside was hairy, waxy and dirty. So she was lightly sedated and given a good pluck & clean. Moving forward, keep treating her with her prescribed meds. Focus on the goal of really opening up those ear canals properly and letting the air in. If we can get that happening, the yeast she had won't have anywhere to thrive. I'd like to thank everyone who has applied so far but there's no confirmed date that she'll be ready to go up for adoption. _________________________________ |
UPDATE Awesome news so far. Tinker's meds regimen seem to be opening up her previously completely closed ears and in the next two weeks until her follow-up, her ear canals may open wide enough to get an otoscope in for a good look around. Swabs able to be taken indicated yeast present also. So once we can get drops into her ears and really get on top of things, there's a *fingers crossed* chance that we can avoid ear ablation and save her hearing!
UPDATE With her vet surgeon appointment coming up there's hope we can save some of her hearing.

NEW | Lacie | Maltese Cross | Female | 10yrs | IN REHAB
10th MARCH
Out and about, mixing with her foster friends and looking like she's going to be ok for a full groom. Her hair is brittle and old. Sun damaged. And moth-eaten from chewing at fleas (which are gone obviously). 8th MARCH Lacie just arrived! Many thanks to Kate for doing the transport run. :) Lacie is currently in a very large crate we call the 'decompression' crate. It's raised off the floor in the lounge room so new doggy gets to chill out, have a snooze, see me directly and check out their nosey new friends by looking down upon on them from an angle they feel safest. |

NEW | Princess | Pekingese Cross | Female | Senior | IN REHAB
15th March
Darling Princess has quite a story. :( Princess spent the day at our vet yesterday under observation for 'strange' behaviour. She's just started medication for a likely neurological disorder. If we can get her stable enough, her gammy leg is the next project. But it's very very important that we get her episodes under control first. |
